Russian Hill, San Francisco
Like its surrounding neighborhoods, Russian Hill is an affluent neighborhood with many young professionals.
The neighborhood is most famous for Lombard Street, the one way section on Russian Hill between Hyde and Leavenworth Streets, in which the roadway has eight sharp turns or switchbacks. The design was fueled by necessity in order to reduce the the hill's natural 27% grade.
A perfect park at the top of the hill on Vallejo Street has a small plaque and memorial placed by the Russian Government dedicated to the original Russian cemetary that is the wonderful neighborhood's namesake.
Views from the top of the hill extend in several directions, including the Bay Bridge, Marin County, Alcatraz Island, Golden Gate Bridge. If you want a property with spectacular views you want one in Russian Hill San Francisco.
Because of the steepness of many of the streets, portions of Vallejo and Green Streets are charming staircases-there are also several streets like Macondry Lane and Fallon Place are pedestrian-only with beautiful landscaping and gorgeous views.
